That blasted experiment, once again rooting its way through the kitchen, looking for the cookies Mist had hidden from it. The rustling, the clanging, the constant banging of pots an pans rattles me awake every single morning. Dragging my lifeless body of out bed every day has became a chore in my age. Being almost five hundred years old takes a toll on a man.
For the last one hundred years I have been forced to look over my experiment. The only one that actually worked. I promised my love, Mist, I wouldn't indulge myself in any more of those horrid experiments after they found out that I, was the Demented Doctor that forged Mantis into the being it is today.
My daily routine starts every day with Mantis searching for the cookies and waking me up as it clatters about the kitchen. If not cookies, then ice cream, chocolate, pudding, anything sweet it can eat. Once that happens, I usually can't get back to sleep, so up I get. This occurs about 8am in the morning and never fails. Its like a personal alarm clock. I don't tend to wear much to bed, normally just my underwear. Once I've gotten dressed, I sort out my hair and go to clean up. Daily routines are routines for a reason.
I leave my room, locking it after I have left to stop the creature from snooping around in my things. It suspects I have another experiment hidden some where.... Ha! As if!
On my way down to the main hall for breakfast, I normally wake up Mist. My sleeping beauty, I call her on many occasions, normally met with a small death threat and then a light kiss. It is my job to get everyone up if they haven't already been awakened by the creatures ruckus.
I make my way around the doors; Mist, Sawbones, Pistol, Hitokuijinshu. I reach crows room. That kid gives me the creeps, opposite his room is Obsidians, I normally allow both of them to sleep in. Obsidian hurls stuff at me and Crow tries to decapitate me. So I leave them be, its so cute though; then tend to come down to breakfast together.
After breakfast, its my chores. I clean up the lower halls of the manor while Mist and sawbones tend the second floor, Crow and Obsidian tend the attic and Mantis, Pistol and Hitokuijinshu handle the basement. The amount of times I have heard strange sounds coming from the basement door, often screams of pain, bursts of laughter or loud... Unsettling groans. I don't dare to explore myself.
When chores are done, dinner is prepared and ate, we all sit in the main dining room. Mantis at the head of the table, Mist at the base, and everyone else where they sit. I'm normally next to Mist. Though, when I am I have to put up with the creatures constant staring.
That's my day to day life really. Boring I know but like I said before. I lock my room's door to stop Mantis from sneaking around...
They aren't aware of this, but I am working on a new experiment. Experiment No.8. One like Mantis but more in control of itself, I've retraced my steps countless times on what I did to Mantis and every time all I can think of is one thing... I took it from its mother, its father. I tore it from their grip and its never let go since. So what if this new one didn't have parents. Not produced my male sperm nor born from a womans womb. It has taken years of trial and errors but I have finally managed it, using mixtures of the groups DNA that I collected from hair has been a strange discovery. They all possessed different things when mixed together, but the most unsettling one was the one that was mixed from Obsidian's and Pistols DNA... Heavens above... Ban them two from falling in love or creating offspring please... Armageddon can wait for another time...
Any ways, I found the perfect cocktail of DNA and strangely enough its a mix of mine and Mists. How my heart fluttered when I realized, this new experiment was like our very own child. Accept the roles were a bit swapped... Most relationships go with the female not telling the male... not the other way round.
But, my little Orchid, you have taken your first steps and have said your first words. Daddy is so proud of you, and I'm sure mommy will be too.
